Provides that the rate of pay of each firefighter for the regular hours of duty of his basic workweek shall consist of his rate of basic pay plus an amount of premium pay which is not less than the highest amount of such premium pay payable with respect to any equal amount of basic pay immediately prior to the effective date of this Act.
Provides that for all hours of duty by a firefighter in excess of the regular hours of duty of his basic workweek, such firefighter is entitled to pay in accordance with applicable provisions of law relating to overtime, night, Sunday, and holiday pay.
Provides that, for purposes of this Act, the term "firefighter" means a civilian employee of any executive agency whose principal duty is to supervise or perform work in the prevention, control, and extinguishment of fires, in the driving or operation of fire protection vehicles and equipment, in the operation of fire alarm equipment, or in the dispatching of firefighting staff and equipment.
